The non-error error

You received a new computer as a gift, and you’ve installed about 30 different applications in a couple of days. Unfortunately, you now get the message “Error 44” when starting the computer, with no other references or application names. Which of these utilities can help you determine which program is giving this generic error message?

A) Event Viewer

B) Services

C) Performance Monitor

D) Disk Manager

E) Is it too late to return this computer for a smarter model?

The answer: A) Event Viewer

It can be difficult to determine which program is causing this issue, especially if the message is very generic. It’s also possible that the application giving the error isn’t the one that’s actually causing the problem. Most error messages are also logged in the Event Viewer, and there’s occasionally some additional information that can assist you in finding the root cause of the issue.
